Executive Profiles


Evan Gladstone
Executive Managing Director Evan Gladstone is the founder and Executive Managing Director of Chicago-based NRC Realty & Capital Advisors, LLC. Mr. Gladstone began his real estate career in 1974 at Sheldon Good & Company, and has been a prime mover in the real estate auction and sealed bid venues since then. He began conducting residential real estate auctions in 1982 for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and HUD, then for the FSLIC and FDIC ultimately selling over 4,000 houses by the end of the 1980s.

Established in 1989 as the National Real Estate Clearinghouse, Inc., Mr. Gladstone guided NRC as one of the Resolution Trust Company's major auction and sealed bid contractors selling nearly one billion in commercial and residential real estate from 1990 to 1994. He pioneered the use of sealed bid sales for commercial real estate first for the RTC and then for major banks and corporations including Circle K, K Mart, GE Capital, and BP North America. In 2002 and 2003, he was hired to conduct two landmark bankruptcy liquidations for Swifty Serve Stores and Clark Retail. Using a ‘buy one, some or all’ sealed bid format, he was able to generate nine thousand hard-money bids for the more than 1,200 convenience stores being sold, and close the transactions in under 90 days to 420 individual buyers.

Mr. Gladstone is a licensed real estate broker in multiple states and a member of many industry related organizations including National Association of Realtors, National Auctioneers Association, National Association of Convenience Stores, International Counsel of Shopping Centers, International Franchise Association and the Turnaround Management Association.
Ian Walker
Senior Vice President Ian Walker joined NRC Realty & Capital Advisors, LLC in 2003 as a Sales Manager and currently heads the company's Sales Team in Chicago. His primary focus is managing the structured sale of commercial real estate portfolios via NRC's sealed bid process. Over the past 9 years, Mr. Walker has been responsible for managing the divestitures of commercial real estate portfolios in excess of $1 billion for corporate clients such as GE Capital, BP North America, Sunoco and Circle K.

Mr. Walker began his real estate career in 2001 at Coldwell Banker. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Marketing from Columbia College. He is also a licensed real estate broker and a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Chicago Association of Realtors and the National Association of Convenience Stores.
Dave Shand
Vice President Dave Shand has over 10 years of commercial real estate sales experience, proficient in single tenant retail and specializing in petroleum industry properties. Since joining NRC in 2003, Mr. Shand has collaborated on the negotiation and sale of more than 1,700 operating and closed gasoline stations and convenience stores, industrial, and other commercial properties for a total of over $1.4 billion for clients including BP America, Sunoco, Inc., GE Capital, 7-Eleven, Inc., Getty Realty Corp., and YRC Worldwide.

Mr. Shand is expert in portfolio analysis and is also involved with project development and managing client relations. Over the course of his career, Mr. Shand is accomplished in many types of single and multi-asset divestitures by way of sealed-bid sale, bankruptcy sale, auction, M&A, and traditional real estate transactions.

Mr. Shand studied at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. He is a current member of the Chicago and Illinois Association of Realtors as well as the National Association of Realtors.
Paul Reuter
Senior Advisor Paul Reuter has over 45 years experience in retail communications and marketing, with 25 years of deeply involved focus in the c-store industry. His experience includes Publisher of Chain Store Age Magazine; founder of Retail Insights, a multi-retail industry trade publishing company; founder of the Retail Marketing Group, a New York-based marketing and advertising company specializing in business-to-business communication; founder and CEO of CSP Information Group, a communications company focused globally on the convenience store and petroleum industry whose products include: CSP Magazine, Internet-based CSP MARKETLink, CSP Conferences CSP Today TV Program.

Mr. Reuter was also the founder of the Industries SOI [now in partnership with NACS] and has served on several retail boards. A frequent speaker at industry events, Reuter has hosted hundreds of industry meetings and events. He is widely viewed as an expert and highly respected throughout the c-store community. Reuter has played a key role in assisting companies realize and define future opportunities within their business; as an example, he was key advisor to John MacDougall transitioning his company Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes, Inc.
Thomas H. Wilky
Managing Director Thomas Wilky has nearly 30 years of marketing, operations and leadership experience through several corporate career engagements and over 15 years of marketing and business consulting services to a client base in a broad range of industries including multi-branch retail, convenience store, hospitality, consumer products, energy, and telecommunications. Most recently, Mr. Wilky formed Southwest Pacific Partners, an investment limited liability company and marketing consulting firm to make strategic investments and facilitate financial transactions in the retail convenience store, energy and the outdoor apparel industries. Mr. Wilky's business consulting practice has spanned over 25 years and he has provided marketing consulting and financial services to a broad client base that included Gentry Capital Advisors, Koch Industries/Ventures and Giant Industries, Inc. in the energy and retail convenience store space. Mr. Wilky began his career in the hospitality industry where as Director of Marketing for Motel 6, LLP he instrumental in repositioning this national lodging company as the Director of Marketing and was responsible directing and implementing the Tom Bodett national advertising campaign.

Mr. Wilky received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.
John Rapp
Senior Real Estate Advisor John Rapp is a Senior Real Estate Advisor for NRC, who brings over 30 years of retail experience, with major oil company, fuel distributor, convenience store, and drug store / pharmacy chains. John has demonstrated tremendous diverse real estate expertise that includes brokerage, development, acquisitions, senior management and leading the way in the alternative fuels industry in the West Coast.  In 2014, John was honored and blessed to be selected to help establish the infrastructure for the hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) network throughout the State of California.  The California Energy Commission (CEC) approved, appropriated and funded 19 of John's proposed hydrogen facilities throughout the State, 15 of which are open to the public today.

John began his retail career with Mobil Oil Corporation in June of 1986, just days from his graduation in Business from San Diego State University. John truly enjoyed his Mobil Oil experience as he held 8 corporate positions including National Sales Manager, Resale Area Marketing Manager, New Business Acquisitions Manager, Marketing Training Advisor, Senior Real Estate Representative, Supervisor of Company Operations, Automotive Lubricant Specialist, Sales and Business Consultant.  John pursued his passion for real estate as he joined Hess Oil Corporation and orchestrated their real estate expansion in the Southeastern United States with an emphasis in Florida.  John continued his real estate pursuits as the Real Estate Development Manager with The Sembler Company, based in St. Petersburg, Florida, completing Build to Suit developments for CVS Pharmacy and Eckerd drug stores.  Single Site Solutions hired and relocated John back to his home state of California as the West Coast Acquisitions Manager to be the exclusive in-house developer for 7-Eleven Corporation, completing gasoline convenience store new to industry ground up, build to suit and ground lease projects.  John furthered his real estate acquisition expertise as the Senior Vice President of KZ Development with retail shopping centers pursuits as the exclusive developer for CVS Pharmacy in Southern California.  John has assisted United Oil Company, a large and very successful west coast fuel distributor / jobber in California to facilitate the acquisition and streaming of 80+ Shell branded facilities.  In recent years, John also represented Propel Fuels, an alternative fuels oil company, with their real estate acquisitions in the State of California, expanding their growth of E-85 (Flex-Fuel) and Bio-diesel.
Dennis L Ruben
Executive Managing Director Dennis L. Ruben joined NRC with over twenty-five years of legal experience with specialization in real estate and financial matters. Most recently Executive Vice President and General Counsel with GE Capital Franchise Finance Corporation, his supervision of the legal department and direction of all legal matters for this $10 billion business unit included real estate acquisition, loan origination and structuring of all major financing transactions.

Mr. Ruben has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and a B.A. degree from University of Iowa. A member of several State Bars, multiple Bar Associations and the American Bankruptcy Institute, Mr. Ruben participated as a past speaker and panelist for the Strategic Research Institute.
Jonathan Graham
Vice President Jonathan Graham is a Vice President and a member of the NRC Realty & Capital Advisors Sales Team. Since joining NRC in 2004, he has been involved with the negotiation and sale of over 1,700 properties totaling sales of more than $1.4 Billion. Mr. Graham specializes in the sale and analysis of commercial properties including sales for BP America, GE Capital, 7-Eleven, Inc., YRC Worldwide, Sunoco, Inc. and Getty Realty Corp., among others.

Mr. Graham started his career at NRC as a Sales Manager. He is involved with the development and disposition of single and multi-site commercial assets, and managing client relations. His duties range from overseeing initial project development through completing the sales transaction.

Prior to joining NRC Realty & Capital Advisors, Mr. Graham worked at a private financial firm. Mr. Graham graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison where he received a Bachelor's of Science in Economics. He is currently a member of the Chicago Association of Realtors, Illinois Association of Realtors & National Association of Realtors.
David Levy
Vice President Business Development David joined NRC Realty & Capital Advisors in 2008 as its Auction Manager. During his tenure he has sold a wide array of properties for a diverse group of clients including bank officers, attorneys, management consultants, government officials, corporations, and commercial and residential investors. He is now responsible for business development with responsibility generating sealed bid and live auction business from banks and corporations with distressed and excess commercial real estate as well as bankruptcy situations.

Prior to joining NRC he had a successful career in consumer product marketing. Working in close concert with NRC's in-house Marketing team, he applies this expertise to identify the right kinds of buyers and likely brokers for each property being sold and then executing a high impact campaign to reach them.= This background served him well during his assignment as Vice President of LPS Auctions Solutions, a related company of NRC, that focused on assisting bank and loan servicing clients with the divestiture residential REO assets nationwide.

David is a member of the National Auctioneers Association and has earned the industry's highest designation, Certified Auctioneer Institute (CAI). He is also an active member of the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. A graduate of the Missouri Auction School and a licensed Illinois Real Estate Managing Broker and Auctioneer, he frequently assists with charity auctions throughout the Chicagoland area.

He received his MBA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Jeff Kramer
Managing Director Jeff Kramer joined NRC in 2014 as a Managing Director, bringing over thirty years experience in petroleum and convenience store retailing, plus extensive experience in refining, wholesaling, and distribution. His most recent experience has been as Managing Member and CEO of Prima Marketing LLC, owner operator of 89 7-Eleven convenience stores in the Eastern U.S. Most of these locations were sold to 7-Eleven in 2012, with the assistance of NRC. Kramer's background in refining, wholesale and distribution came at Total Petroleum and as CEO at Frontier Refining.

Mr. Kramer has a B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering from Ohio State University, an M.B.A. in Finance from S.M.U., is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program, and is certified as a C.P.A. He is a long-standing member of NACS and of SIGMA, having served on its Board of Directors.
Mike Bohnert
Managing Director Mike Bohnert  joined NRC with 25 years in petroleum and convenience marketing. Mike advises clients on company sales, divestitures, acquisitions, accelerated development, market conversions from direct to wholesale and strategic planning.  The majority of the transactions being downstream energy companies involved in petroleum marketing and convenience retailing, wholesale fuels distribution and oil distribution.  Throughout his career, Mike has managed and overseen business transactions exceeding $1 billion for clients such as GE Capital, Sunoco, BP, Costco, Home Depot, and was involved with bankruptcy liquidations for Swifty Serve and Clark Retail.

Mike holds a B.S. in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Mike is a licensed real estate broker in California.  He enjoys volunteering for youth baseball programs to give all kids the opportunity to play the game. Mike resides in Carlsbad, CA.
